Sometimes I just can’ttttt make myself read. Honestly, sometimes I get so frustrated with myself because I’m not a good reader. I never have been. Growing up I always had a hard time reading. The words would just jumble up in my head and I couldn’t make sense of the sentences. It still happens to me now, but I try my best haha. I recently caught the reading bug again, and got a few new books that caught my eye.
The two books I’m currently reading are:
Daisy Jones & The Six: A Novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid
It’s a coming of age story about a girl named Daisy in the late sixties. She loves rock and roll, going to clubs and partying, and she dreams about singing at the Whisky a Go Go. She eventually starts to get noticed for her voice, and she’s so beautiful that it makes people act a bit crazy. A band called The Six also starts to get noticed. The band leader, Billy, and Daisy cross paths when a producer believes that putting them together would be legendary, hence: Daisy Jones and The Six.
This novel is fiction, but after reading the first chapter I just had to Google if the band was real haha. The author made it seem like they were real stories told by real people. It’s really good so far, and I just find it so clever and creative.
I’m reading it as a kinda book club book with my lil sister.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life by Mark Manson
This book is pretty much about what the title says. It’s about what kinds of things you should give a crap about and what you shouldn’t. The author wrote that that the book won’t teach you how to gain and achieve, but instead it’d teach how to lose and let go. He says, “in life, we have a limited amount of f’s to give.
So you must choose your f’s wisely.”
Basically, as my husband always tells me, be conscious of your mindset! I’m not one to read “self-help” books. I actually don’t think I ever have until this. I had my eye on this book for a few months, and when my husband picked it up I decided that I might as well read it.
I was gonna include a list of my “to read” books too, but I figured when I start reading them I can make another current reading list post hahaha.
I’m not the type of reader that can read 2 fiction books at the same time.. I get them confused and end up giving up reading both of them *insert face palm emoji*.
If you have any book suggestions please lemme know! I’m always interested in finding new books.
Happy reading :)
