SUMMER 2018 FAVES

As Summer Twenty-Eighteen is now done and October is right around the corner, I thought I’d make a blog post all about my summer faves. From makeup, to fashion, to tv, to whatever else pops into my little noggin. Sooo… I guess let’s jump right in!

Well because I named makeup first, let’s start with that.

I bought this concealer by accident because I meant to buy the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, but got the Aquacealer Concealer instead cause I had no idea what the Shape Tape one was. And I actually really like it! It’s lighter coverage than most concealers, but that’s what makes me like using it. I would definitely repurchase this.

I use this Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil after every shower. Just a few sprays in wet hair, and my locks feel so much softer.
The spray is a heat/uv protectant too. Pretty much all summer I braided my soggy hair, let it dry while still in the braid and it leaves a nice soft wave. Just a couple sprits of Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray and my hair is just beachy!

I’m pretty sure I wore this sandals wayyyy too much. I wore them in the city, hiking, on shoots, to the beach, on the plane - everywhere. The western style buckle is what drew me into the purchase, and well, I always like black so they were an obvious choice haha. I can’t wait to over wear them next summer too. I bought these from a Topshop sale, but I’ve seen a lot of shops carry sandals just like these.

I guess I should include a pair of shorts in this list because it’s a summer faves list, but lemme tell you, I HATE wearing shorts. So much. I was sold on these shorts from Zara because they’re longer and don’t show too much leg. I even found another pair of the same shorts in another colour at a consignment store and bought them so quick.

Okay now onto the randomness!

My fave Starbucks drink this summer is the rooibos tea latte (with almond milk). It’s v delicious and caffeine free which is right up my alley since I stopped having caffeine! Side-note: another fave was using metal straws instead of using plastic straws - way less wasteful! They’re just from Amazon; they have a lot to choose from.

My favourite purchase this summer are my platform Vans. I got them in Florida and have already worn them soo much. I’ll definitely get a ton more wear outa them in the fall.

I used this camera at Christmas, but we bought a couple more to have during summer to document memories in a more casual way. Well, I think using your phone is the most casual way, so maybe this is an in between of using a bigger camera and my phone? Haha. Growing up we always had photos on film, so I wanted to be able to continue that! (without having to buy expensive film for my fancier cameras).

I was late to the game, but man, Terrace House is so good. I watched all 3 houses this summer, and couldn’t get enough. It’s so different than western reality shows and that’s exactly why I liked it so much. (I don’t watch any “western” reality shows - at all).

I included experiences in my 2017 Favourites post, so I'll
add some here too!

I was blessed with the opportunity to photograph for Banana Republic alongside my husband and a company he works with. It was a very difficult shoot because there was a major inner struggle going on in me the entire time with anxiety, self-doubt and fear. I pushed through and only broke down in tears when I got back home hehe.

I think my favourite experience this whole summer was learning to surf in Tofino. It was so awesome. I talked about it in my Surf Town Tofino post, so I won’t bore you again, but ugh surfing is seriously the best.

Going to Disney World was also a fave because Jerome and I are trying to go to all Disneylands around the world! We’ve been to 3 together so far (I think there’s 6 in total). I hope we’ll actually be able to go to them all someday. I did not however like meeting Kylo Ren because he was flipping scary. (lol at the Disney Photopass watermark)

Jerome and I were at Rock the Shores this year, and we got to see Brian Wilson perform live! If you don’t know who he is, he’s one of the founding members of the Beach Boys! I grew up listening to the Beach Boys because of my dad, so it was amazing being able to hear all the classics sung live.

I guess you could say that I had a pretty good & busy summer this year!
I hope you did too.

If you had to pick your absolute fave experience this summer, what would it be? I’d love to hear it!
